Indi Hartwell is known for being among the notable female talent listed under World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) as of November 2019 where she performs on the SmackDown brand. 

She is also known by her fans for her on-screen romance with NXT star Dexter Lumis, which transitioned into a real-life relationship. The couple married in 2022.

Before signing with WWE, she competed in Australia with organizations such as Riot City Wrestling (RCW) and World Series Wrestling (WSW). She held both the RCW Women’s Championship and the WSW Women’s Championship once each.

Who is Indi Hartwell?

Indi Hartwell, born Samantha De Martin on August 17, 1996, in Melbourne, Australia, is a professional wrestler who gained prominence through her work with WWE.

Early Career

Indi Hartwell began her wrestling career in Australia in 2016, eventually competing for wrestling leagues like Riot City Wrestling, World Series Wrestling, Rise, and Melbourne City Wrestling.

WWE Career

It was announced on November 5, 2019, that Hartwell had signed with WWE, and she debuted at an NXT live event two days later, on November 7, 2019.

Indi Hartwell debuted on NXT on January 15, 2020, competing in a Battle Royal to earn a shot at the NXT Women’s Championship, but she was eliminated. However, she secured her first televised win over Shotzi Blackheart on the July 15, 2020 episode of NXT.

On October 4, 2020, at TakeOver 31, Indi Hartwell assisted Candice LeRae in the Number One Contender Battle for the NXT Women’s Championship.

It was shown on November 11, 2020, during the episode of NXT, that Hartwell was behind the Ghostface mask, helping LeRae in her match for the NXT Women’s Championship against Io Shirai. Their interference was, however, cut off by event host Shotzi Blackheart.

Then, on the December 9 episode of NXT, Johnny Gargano introduced a new group called The Way, which consisted of Candice LeRae, Austin Theory, and Indi Hartwell.

On July 19, 2022, Hartwell participated in a 20-woman battle royal to determine the first contender for the NXT Women’s Championship. She was eliminated by Tiffany Stratton.

  • December 6, 2022 – She defeated Fallon Henley and Wendy Choo in a triple-threat match on NXT.
  • January 10, 2023 – She competed in a 20-woman battle royal, defeating Lash Legend before being ousted by Gigi Dolan and Jacy Jayne.
  • January 28, 2023 – She joined her debut Royal Rumble match on April 1, 2023 – She won the NXT Women’s Championship in a six-woman ladder match.

Raw Brand Career

Indi Hartwell made her first appearance on Raw on May 8, 2023, during a backstage segment where she was seen with Johnny Gargano, Candice LeRae, and Dexter Lumis.

In her in-ring debut on the July 3, 2023 episode, she partnered with LeRae, but the duo was defeated by Sonya Deville and Chelsea Green.
